Comparison

VeraDial vs Beside

Beside — formerly M1 — is the biggest AI receptionist app on the store shelf, and a genuinely good product. It is also priced very differently: unlimited answering is $99.99 per user per month, and its $29.99 plan stops at 30 answered calls. VeraDial is the verified business line itself, with unlimited Vera answering under fair use at $29.99/mo. Here's how to decide which one fits.

By Graham Thomson · Updated August 27, 2026

Short Answer

Pick Beside if you need to port your existing number, you have staff sharing a line, you need inbound answering in Spanish or Portuguese, or you want your receptionist writing into HubSpot or Salesforce — and note it is the more established product, with 9,014 App Store ratings and $32M raised. Pick VeraDial if you want unlimited AI answering without the $99.99 tier: Vera Lite is $14.99/mo with 50 AI-receptionist minutes and 150 calling minutes, and Vera Plus is $29.99/mo with unlimited answering under fair use, 300 calling minutes, outbound AI calling, and live translation.

VeraDial

Verified business line with Vera, a 24/7 AI receptionist, built in — answers calls and texts on a number you own, and on Vera Plus places outbound calls and interprets live. From $14.99/mo per line; unlimited answering under fair use at $29.99/mo. Same app version on iPhone and Android.

Bottom Line

Which should you pick?

Pick VeraDial if...

You want unlimited AI answering without the $99.99 tier. Vera Lite is $14.99/mo with 50 AI-receptionist minutes and 150 calling minutes; Vera Plus is $29.99/mo with unlimited Vera answering under fair use, 300 calling minutes, outbound AI calling, live two-way translation, and Google Calendar booking — on a verified US or Canadian number, with the same app version on iPhone and Android.

Pick Beside if...

You need to port your existing number, you have staff sharing a line (Beside sells up to 20 seats with shared numbers and team chat), you need inbound answering in Spanish or Portuguese, or you need your receptionist writing into HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho, Pipedrive, or Follow Up Boss. Beside is also the more established product — 4.8 stars across 9,014 App Store ratings and $32M raised. Facts verified on beside.com 2026-08-27.

The short version

Both are genuine AI receptionists on a real business line, priced very differently. Beside (formerly M1) is the bigger, better-funded product, with number porting, team seats, four-language answering, and native CRM integrations — but its unlimited-answering plan is $99.99 per user per month and its $29.99 plan stops at 30 answered calls. VeraDial is the line itself: $14.99/mo for Lite, $29.99/mo for unlimited answering under fair use plus outbound AI calling and live translation, with iPhone and Android at version parity. Pick Beside for porting, teams, and integrations; pick VeraDial when you want unlimited answering without the $99 tier.

Honest concession

Where Beside is genuinely the better pick

Beside is bigger than us and has shipped capabilities VeraDial doesn't have today. For the buyers below, Beside is the right product — not VeraDial.

They are far more established than we are

Beside has 9,014 App Store ratings at 4.8 stars and raised $32 million led by EQT Ventures and Index Ventures, with roughly 20,000–25,000 paying businesses. VeraDial is a much younger product with a small public review footprint. If buying the proven, well-funded option matters more than price, that is a real and reasonable reason to pick Beside — and we would rather say it here than let you find it out later.

Beside ports your existing number. VeraDial does not.

If you want the number your customers already dial to become the number inside the app, Beside supports porting and VeraDial does not. VeraDial issues you a new verified US or Canadian number and has you forward your existing line to it — your carrier keeps the old number, nothing moves. That works well for most people, but if bringing the number itself across is essential, Beside is the right answer.

Teams, shared numbers, and live transfer to a person

Beside sells seats: up to 20 users on shared numbers with team group chats, roles, and company billing, and its AI can transfer a live call to the right teammate with spoken context first. VeraDial is built for one owner running up to five lines, and Vera cannot warm-transfer a caller to a colleague. Any business with staff sharing a phone should pick Beside.

Multilingual answering and real CRM integrations

Beside answers calls and texts in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese, and writes into HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho, Pipedrive, Follow Up Boss, Monday, Attio, and Odoo. It also ships a macOS desktop app and AI email follow-up drafts — VeraDial has a web dashboard, but no desktop app and no email drafting. VeraDial is English-first — its 13-language translation runs on outbound calls, which is a different job — and integrates through Zapier plus signed webhooks rather than natively. Worth noting the other way: Beside's field-service integrations (ServiceTitan, Jobber, Housecall Pro, Mindbody) were all still marked “coming soon” when we checked.

Where VeraDial wins

Where VeraDial is the better pick

VeraDial is the line, the receptionist, the texts, and the outbound in one product — at a third the price of Beside's unlimited tier. If any of these is your bottleneck, VeraDial is the right tool.

Unlimited answering costs $29.99, not $99.99

This is the difference that decides most buyers. Beside's unlimited AI receptionist is $99.99 per user per month, and its $29.99 plan stops at 30 answered calls — one busy week for a service business. Vera Plus is $29.99/mo with unlimited Vera answering under fair use, plus 300 calling minutes, outbound AI calling, live translation, and Google Calendar booking. Vera Lite is $14.99/mo with 50 AI-receptionist minutes and 150 calling minutes. Beside prices verified on beside.com/pricing 2026-08-27.

Vera makes calls too — Beside's receptionist only answers

Beside's own documentation states the AI receptionist handles inbound calls only. Vera Plus places goal-based outbound calls for you — chasing an estimate, confirming an appointment, coordinating a supplier — with a full transcript and summary of each one, and joins your outbound calls as a live two-way interpreter across 13 languages. Neither of those exists on Beside at any price.

The Android app is a real app

VeraDial ships the same version on iPhone and Android. Beside's Android app is rated 2.9 stars across 44 ratings with roughly 5,500 installs, sits a full major version behind its iPhone app, and launched almost two years later — while every “4.8 stars” claim Beside publishes is its iPhone rating, without saying so. If you or anyone on your team is on Android, check that listing yourself before you commit. Verified on Google Play 2026-08-27.

Texting compliance is handled, not handed to you

Beside's terms state plainly that “we do not provide built-in opt-in or opt-out mechanisms” and that the customer is solely responsible for consent — while still requiring you to honour STOP requests. VeraDial handles STOP and HELP automatically at the platform level on every line. VeraDial's iPhone app also declares no cross-app tracking in its App Store privacy label, where Beside's declares usage data used to track you across other companies' apps and websites.

Beside pricing

Beside's current tier structure

Tier names, USD prices, and the answered-call cap verified from beside.com/pricing and its schema.org offers on August 27, 2026. Both published plans are billed monthly, per user. Quoted for buyer reference — please verify with Beside before purchasing.

Baseline

$29.99/user/mo

30 AI receptionist answered calls / month

One phone line per user (extra lines $4.99/mo), uncapped calling and texting in the US and Canada, number porting, call forwarding, spam filter, transcripts and summaries, daily recap, AI search across your calls and texts, and team seats. Overage behaviour past the 30-call cap is not published.

Unlimited

$99.99/user/mo

No cap on answered calls · 7 days free

Everything in Baseline with no limit on AI receptionist answered calls. This is the tier to compare against an unlimited receptionist plan — Beside states that no features are gated between the two, so the only difference is call volume.

Annual (not on the pricing page)

$199.99/year

About $16.67/user/mo

Beside's own blog markets an annual plan at $199.99/year, and it appears in both app stores' in-app purchase metadata — but it is absent from beside.com/pricing and from that page's structured data. Worth asking them about directly before you buy monthly.

For comparison: VeraDial's Vera Lite is $14.99/mo with 50 AI-receptionist minutes and 150 calling minutes — and Vera Plus is $29.99/mo with unlimited Vera answering under fair use, outbound AI calling, and live translation included.

FAQ

VeraDial vs Beside, answered

What is Beside M1?

M1 is Beside's previous name, not a model or a device. Beside (beside.com, operated by Interface, Inc.) spent about 18 months in stealth as M1 before rebranding in October 2025 — its own funding announcement says “for 18 months, Beside operated in stealth as M1, an AI receptionist for calls and texts.” The company kept “(M1)” in its iPhone App Store title, which is why the app still shows both names; the Google Play listing is simply “Beside — AI Phone Assistant.” Verified on beside.com 2026-08-27.

How much does Beside cost?

Two plans, both billed monthly per user: Baseline at $29.99/user/mo, capped at 30 AI receptionist answered calls each month, and Unlimited at $99.99/user/mo with no cap. Extra lines are $4.99/mo. An annual plan at $199.99/year (about $16.67/mo) is marketed on Beside's blog and appears in both app stores, but is not shown on beside.com/pricing. Many comparison sites list Beside as “$29.99 or $49.99” — that is out of date. Prices verified from beside.com/pricing and its structured data on 2026-08-27.

Which is cheaper — Beside or VeraDial?

VeraDial, and the gap is widest exactly where it matters. Compare unlimited to unlimited: Beside's Unlimited plan is $99.99 per user per month; Vera Plus is $29.99/mo with unlimited Vera answering under fair use, 300 calling minutes, outbound AI calling, and live translation. At the entry level Beside's $29.99 plan answers 30 calls a month, while Vera Lite is $14.99/mo with 50 AI-receptionist minutes and 150 calling minutes. Beside also prices per seat, where VeraDial prices per line.

Does Beside's AI make outbound calls?

No. Beside's own documentation states the AI receptionist currently handles inbound calls only — you can dial out from the app yourself, but the AI will not run the call. VeraDial's Vera Plus places outbound calls on your behalf from a goal you describe, returns a transcript and summary, and can also join an outbound call as a live two-way interpreter across 13 languages.

Does Beside have an Android app?

Yes, but it is much weaker than the iPhone app. Beside's Android app launched in November 2025 — nearly two years after iOS — and as of 2026-08-27 it is rated 2.9 stars across 44 ratings with about 5,500 installs, versus 4.8 stars across 9,014 ratings on iPhone. It is also a full major version behind. Beside's published “4.8 stars” social proof is its iPhone rating and does not disclose that. VeraDial ships the same version on both platforms.

Can I keep my existing number with each?

Both let you keep it, by different routes. Beside supports porting your number in, so it becomes your Beside line, and also supports forwarding. VeraDial does not port — it issues you a new verified US or Canadian number and walks you through forwarding your existing line to it, so your carrier keeps your old number and nothing moves. If porting the number itself is essential to you, that is a genuine reason to choose Beside.

Is Beside available in Canada?

Yes. Beside sells in the United States and Canada, is listed on both Canadian app stores, and now provisions Canadian numbers to Canadian customers. Worth knowing the history: through mid-2026 a number of Canadian reviewers reported large carrier long-distance charges after being assigned a US number, and Beside's own developer replies confirm it — “it's possible you were accidentally assigned a U.S. Beside number” — while stating the issue is resolved and that they cover the resulting charges. VeraDial has issued real US and Canadian numbers from the start. Note that Canadian local inventory is genuinely tight in some metros, so VeraDial may offer you a nearby area code rather than your exact one.

Try VeraDial

Unlimited answering shouldn't cost $99.

Vera Plus is $29.99/mo with unlimited Vera answering under fair use, 300 calling minutes, outbound AI calling, and live translation — on a verified US or Canadian number you own. Vera Lite starts at $14.99/mo. 7-day free trial, no contract.
